WHO WE ARE
Camp Lotus is a one-week music camp that gives aspiring musicians at the high school level an opportunity to maximize their potential and aids in preparing the young musician for a career in the music industry. With workshops in Songwriting, Music Production, Media and Music Business, students are given the opportunity to write and record their own song, conduct an interview, learn marketing techniques using digital media and so much more! Students will learn from some of the most respected names in the industry, including 14-Time Grammy Award winning artist, Kirk Franklin all hosted out of his brand new, state-of-the-art recording studio. Camp Lotus concludes with a Grand Finale Concert featuring campers performing at the Levitt Pavilion at The University of Texas at Arlington, which reaches an audience of over 3,000 people. The inaugural camp will accept applicants from the local Arlington area. Campers cost of tuition is fully covered through sponsorships and generous donors.
A MESSAGE FROM KIRK
The Franklin Imagine Group's Camp Lotus sets aside one week during the summer to expand, explore, and inspire young talented teens in the local metroplex through music. It is the bipartisan universal language of unity spoken only through a dance, a melody or theatrical piece that speaks to the hope of the next generation. Under the vision of Kirk Franklin, talented teens hand-chosen through local schools, churches, boys and girls clubs etc., will assemble together for a week of performance sessions and various break out classes focused on individual gifts, personal nourishment and inspiration from some of the leading artists in their field. The week will conclude with a finale event that brings the performances together for a grand production created to showcase the brilliance and the hope that exists right in our own back yard.
With programs for the arts being cut in the school systems across our country, these camps offer a unique opportunity to teens with musical abilities in the public school setting the hope that their environment doesn’t dictate their destiny.
"MUSIC WAS MY WAY OUT"
says Franklin, who was raised in a rough area of Fort Worth, Texas. “If it wasn’t for the music speaking to me at an early age, and a core group of teachers and leaders that pulled me out of an environment ripe for destruction, my life narrative would have a totally different ending. Music can not only change lives, but also SAVE lives. We don’t want to just entertain, to be creatively repetitive, or stay in the shallow part of creativity, we want to go deeper than we’ve gone before to pull out the best in the artist, and the art. Let’s go deeper!"
VISION
Investing in our youth through music.
